The Capacity
Building for Quality HIV/AIDS Services
project supports the Partner NGOs to undertake
activities including:
Expansion of VCT services and increase demand
for those services
Prevention of mother to child transmission
and safe infant feeding, including ARVs where
available
Improved management of sexually transmitted
diseases, opportunistic infections and control
of tuberculosis
Management of HIV infection (including HAART/DOTS
where available)
Provision of counseling services in the community
for psychosocial support and community mobilization
Provision of psychosocial support for those
who are HIV+
Basic reproductive health services including
family planning and youth friendly sexual
and RH services
Blood safety and infection prevention
Effective communication focusing on protective
behaviors and long term reduction in risk
factors
Promotion and availability of condoms through
marketing Chishango condoms or distributing
free MOH condoms
Reduction in stigma
Addressing community barriers to care seeking
and encouraging increasing demand
Building NGOs organizational and technical
capacity in the above
Technical
assistance to Partner NGOs includes one-to-one
mentoring, workshops, training courses and
exchange visits in organizational development,
HIV/AIDS technical knowledge and skills, financial
and program management and monitoring and
evaluation. Umoyo Network also hold regular
meetings of the Partner NGOs and key stakeholders
to share experiences, peer review quarterly
reports and co-ordinate activities.
